Early arrival from Tampa

John's plane arrived early. I met him at airport so we could go to rain forrest exhibit down at the CA Academy of Science near Golden Gate park. On arrival, we decided to get our bikes out of storage and up to conference room where ABB would assemble them. We hoped we could just drop them off and pick them up after lunch but were told that they needed us present in case of any damage.
While bringing up bikes to third floor, Matt arrived. After we all got our bikes up there, we headed out for lunch courtesy of John's rental car. The mechanics were only on duty until 3:00 so we didn't linger over lunch.
Opening John's container, they found John had a bent derailleur so that needed replacing. John reads instructions so he had a spare one as recommended in the ABB packing list. (Me? not so much). Bit of a scramble to find where he packed it but it got addressed.
Opening my box, the electronic shifting was inoperative. Gene got it working, made a few adjustments and all seems ok.
On opening Matt's box, he found his seat was damaged such that the bike couldn't be ridden unless he stood the whole time. This was a bit of an issue as it's a rather high end seat not found at any old bike outlet. But the internet is a beautiful thing and after making a few calls we found a shop next to Golden Gate Park that carried the exact model he was looking for. Since they were open until 7, we headed out in John's rental again, picked up seat, and were back at the mechanics room before closing time!
Sure, a few anxious moments but survived the day. Finished up with dinner at the restaurant in front (Max's) and Matt and John biologically being still on east coast time, decided to call it a day. Saturday we'll have another chance to make any final bike tune-ups, I plan to take my bike for a quick spin to check to make sure everything's tightened up and everything still fits (Bar height, Seat height and angle).
